An Oncoming Storm (Open to 4 Students/Lecturers/Civilians to Act as Beach-Patrol who are Not in Blind Faith)

View previous topic View next topic Go down  Message [Page 1 of 1]

Water gently lapped on compress beach, a group of four watchers were making the nightly rounds. It was a cold morning, despite the warming as spring chipped away at winter. A spring storm was swirling off the coast, threatening to approach but not quite within landfall of Bellmuse but the waves were already under their effect. The sea foam was thick, as though it were one of Creak’s well-poured beers, and radiating from the man’s very door was the pounding of a heavy fist. Inside the lights were on, yet the door refused to budge… no sound radiated from within, no happy patrons.

A little down the beach, the foam coating it’s underside, was a dingy; a small rowboat which housed a bottle of rum and bailing pail. Both of the oars were folded into the boat, leaving a small puddle within. The tide was receding; the owner seemed to know this, as the boat hadn’t been dragged far from the water’s edge. It looked rather old, brown-wooden, but it was very well kept; freshly coated with waterproofing varnish and without a single fracture or dent. It looked scarcely large enough for three people, though there were only two sets of oars.

Back at the door the pounding had loudened, but it was no longer the pounding of a fist. This was the pounding of a hammer on metal, the figure had drawn forth a tool and nails; he was pinning a notice to the man’s door. As lightning crackled in the storm behind him it was made clear, this was no letter… in the centre of the single page was an amorphous black stain. Billy “Bones” Creak was being dealt the black spot. The indicator that a pirate’s life was about to run dry, that he was to drink the last of his rum and embrace death in a joyous hug. The nailing had not been done with a hammer but a three clawed boarding hook; its long string bound at his waist.

He was a tall, lean, man with poorly spiked black hair and a small set of glasses on the crook of his nose. He war what looked to be a large baggy, red, cagoule with long black gloves and heavy black leather boots. He didn’t look happy frowning out to the oncoming storm, and began to stalk his way back toward the dingy. His eyes flicked back and forth, as though he was awaiting interruption.

Ishi is a drunk, admittedly. One can qualify him as this, but admittedly he only signed up for this because he was feeling guilty. Something, something, 'You went and did it again didn't you' and other things. He had, the previous night, woke up and got drunk, before passing out drunk again. It's not a good cycle, but at least he was sober for once. It was too stormy out for him to be sober, but nooo. His morals had to get between him and his booze for once. This made him a disgruntled man, even more so when Creaks was closed. There was even a fella knocking something on the door. A dot of some sort. That's probably a threat.

He knew other assassins who did something like that, posting their insignia. That's just something he didn't like. He went after the man who had bonked it onto the door, having some very important questions.

"Oi! What're you doing out in the middle of the storm sir, hammering with that thing on Creaks door? That's my favorite place, and it's suspicious."

Moe wasn’t the type to enjoy babysitting a bunch of kids, even huntsmen in training.  Still the department had wanted him involved with the patrols, playin’ nice for the papers by getting involved in the island’s defense, despite it being better to leave it to the academy. Moe hated politics, and here he was one’a the few shmucks on the force with unlocked aura, making him the lucky lug stuck patrolling out in this storm.  It was fine, he had a few hunches on what these pirates would do, and the patrol would still work out.

Especially since he’d made sure to be on the one that went past Creak’s, he certainly hadn’t been planning on using the excuse to have a couple shots’a bourbon while he was patrolling.  Absolutely not.  He still had to remember to sock the chief in the kisser one’a these days, “suggesting” he get involved with this. Still Moe’s hunch seemed to be proving correct, considering one of the others on patrol had spotted some stiff sneaking off to a boat After they’d found the place closed. The black spot seemed as good a message as any even if the detective wasn’t fully in the know of pirate culture to know the exact meaning’.   He could get the message well enough, and the fact they’d heard the racket this shmuck was kicking up before they even reached the tavern.  The tools on the man’s belt as good probably cause as any to suspect he had a hand in the possible threat.

“Alright Pal, Bellmuse PD, gotta ask you a few questions.” The detective tried, deciding to go with the official approach for now, opening his coat to flash the badge inside. The guy looked suspicious enough, and since the other man on this patrol had already begun the confrontation it might be good to throw his weight around, maybe avoid any misunderstandings. He didn’t pull his gun instead drawing out a cigar and placing it in his mouth with his free hand. The cop made a few attempts at lighting it, thanks to the interference of the storm before the damn thing would catch.

Beach Patrol. It was a job that Nyx couldn't care less about as it a lot more mundane than any of the jobs she is used to. If she had the choice, she would have taken on an assassination contract. However, this choice was not available to her for one reason. Currently, the island was on high alert or "DEFCON 1" as Nyx called it so it would be foolish to take up an assassination contract with security tightened as it is. Instead, Nyx decided to join the Beach Patrol so that she could maintain her cover for a while longer. The area she was assigned to patrol was the Kompress Beach Area.

This was a rather convenient arrangement as part of her patrol route went past Creak's Tavern. Nyx had made of visiting the place every now and then for cheap drinks and food. Currently, Nyx was in the mood to pay a visit to Creak so that she could hear some stories from the old man and to try out the rum he drank from time-to-time. However, this thought soon disappeared as Nyx approached the front door of Creak's Tavern. On the door was a piece of paper which had a black mark on it. This instantly caught Nyx's attention.

"That looks like a Schwarzer Fleck." Nyx thought quietly to herself. Nyx had seen something similar to this during her early days as an assassin. This usually meant that someone was dead or was going to be killed very soon. That wasn't a good sign to Nyx. In response to this, Nyx quickly decided to regroup with the rest of the Beach Patrol. Luckily for Nyx, all of their patrol routes meet up on the beach. However, visibility was quite bad to say the least due to the storm.

Nyx quickly followed the road which lead to the beach. After a few tense minutes of walking to the beach, Nyx caught a glance of three human-like shadows a couple of meters ahead of her. After seeing this, Nyx quickly picked up the pace. Once she approached close enough to the three shadows, Nyx could finally make out the three men. They were currently positioned near a boat. After seeing this, Nyx quickly moved over to the spot.

"Hello, you two. What is the current situation?" Nyx asked calmly as she approached the man who was dressed in a lab coat and the man dressed in the trenchcoat. Nyx needed to get a grip on the current situation before doing anything else.

Sky had signed up for the patrol because he had been filled with restless energy lately, and had been unable to sleep because of it. Plus, he loved the beach. As he walked around, he kept his sense on the alert for anything out of the ordinary, his thumbs hooked through his sword belt, palms resting on his twin blades. He had to admit though, he was growing a little bored, and he had begun to siphon a bit of his concentration to quiet his footsteps, trying not to make a sound. This was understandably difficuly, given that the bottoms of his boots were plated with metal. Still, he was making considerable progress.

Then, he heard a commotion, and instead of snapping his senses to it, as most would, he instead opened his senses to everything else. He was a bit paranoid, and always assumed sudden outbursts to be distractions to the main threat. He still moved torwards it, however. He let out a little sigh as he saw the other members of the patrol already gathered there. What were they all doing in the same place? That was just sloppy. He scowls and scoots closer, so those in the group there would notice him, then turns and keeps watch. They didn't need him at the moment, he figured.

The figure stretched, standing up straight. He loomed over them all, seven feet tall and wearing thick boots atop that. Icy blue eyes looked over them, tinted green behind the lens of yellow glasses. He had stopped moving, as though complying with the lecturer and detective, but hadn't spoken a word. A quiet sigh released from his mouth, he clenched both of his fists as air flowed free from him. The stranger then raised his right hand and pointed; not to any of the three but passed them. Following the line of his finger they would find a patch of sand between the main group and Sky, in that area the sand began to slip as though something was rising through it. At the site white rock would begin to uncover, a collage of smooth shapes mere millimetres from touching. There was a great strike of lightning above the sea and in its wake red orbs had appeared on the rocky mass. It began to rise, quickly emerging from the ground.

As the lightning had struck the man had retracted his pointing finger and reached deep into his coat, drawing forth what looked to be a heart. It was too large to be human, that much was clear, but the vibrant redness had begun to fade from the mass and been replaced by patches of murky brown. He threw it to the man who had drawn the badge and as he did blood from the organ splashed over his jacket and face. Clacking sounded from the white rocks. The rocky mass had fully arisen and revealed its true form, not rock but bone. A pair of long legs, great taloned feet and a chest with nigh forty ribs. The skeleton was pristine, not so much as a scuff or dot of dirt anywhere on its person. Their eyes likely weren't drawn to the creature's legs however, nor its cleanliness, but its three heads. The central one, attached to a short neck, held the red lights in its great sockets, the remaining two were on arm like appendages with an additional forearm on each arm. The heads were those of wolves, albeit a little wider than is typical. The beast's posture hunched over but still stood near six feet tall, and it was prepared to charge the trio.

Three giant jaws, the skeleton began its dash. The blonde girl stood in its immediate path; the skull attached to the right limb snaked toward her; the blow looked as though it would come from the front however at the last second the forearms bent and rounded so that the blow was aimed for her left jaw. The jaw on that hand was closed, this was a bludgeoning strike rather than a bite. As that attack was made the charge turned into a spear-punch, the skeleton planted its left foot and threw its left arm; head racing with open jaw twisted sideways. The skeleton was attempting to bite and clamp the detective's head! Simultaneously, as the creature made its lunge, the towering man took his hook from his waist and casually tossed it toward the detective. The curved metal was flying toward the centre of his chest, a bludgeoning blow rather than a piercing one. No matter where he chose to look one attack would come from his flank.

The pirate Black-Dog took three paces backward, throwing a skittish glance to the dingy before cooling himself and refocusing upon the group.

Notes:
Actions; Skeleton Creature was summoned. One twisted punch toward Nyx jaw, 15 semblance damage. One lunging bite toward Moe, 15 semblance damage. One hook bludgeon toward Moe, 45 damage (Physical) before armour.

Noo. Ishi just had to go on the beach where bad things happen. First that dragon thing happened, where he almost died. Then there's a pirate who got murdered. Then a guy who can summon a strange thing, ack. He couldn't have just not done this, no. He had to have felt guilty and be dragged into this. He had to know what to do, by revealing the blade that he keeps on him. He pulled it out, but was not chosen as a target it seems. Ishi had been in more shape than before lately, as the misadventures and crying had done his weight well.

Not to mention, there wasn't just him. There was three others, with two getting targeted. Ugh. This was a pain, and one of them was a policeman. Course. There was a policeman, a mystery lass, and another kid. Of course, two possible idiots, and a stooge from the police. Course, he didn't know anyone there and was going off the basic understandings that he knew off of sterotypes. He had to react fast, and it was decided to protect the one with multiple attacks going after him; the stooge.

At least, that's what he would do if he actually felt that was the best way to do it. The dog had a free head, but this one on a neck. That meant it had less ability to attack. He would dash to the side, past Moe, and make a bee-line towards the massive man. This was to proc one of two possiblities in Ishi's mind. Either he relented the attack on the stooge, or he'd get slashed.

If Ishi reached the man, He'd slash once upwards, once downwards, and then once from right to left, all aiming for the mans chest.

post info:
ishi runs behind Moe, then attempts to go from behind Moe to bee-line towards the rude dood. 3 attacks at 45 before defense

Damn, of course the guy wasn’t going quietly.  Moe swore as the heart hit him, messing up his clothes more than the rain did. He’d been too distracted by the other happenings at first, but when the Cerberus like summon appeared he knew this was not going to be good. This shmuck wasn’t playing around either, thing looked like somethin’ out of a bad movie really, and Moe wasn’t about to let one of them heads take a bite out of him.  It was a shame really, Moe thought the guy might have enough sense to realize turning this into a scrap probably wouldn’t go well, damn thing would probably require paperwork too.

The detective dodged low and to left when the dog made its lung, avoiding its jaws but getting caught in the shoulder by the hook. The blow had caught his right shoulder, which made it a good thing he’d pulled the gun with his left. Wasn’t as good a shot that way. But good enough. The detective would try to counterattack on the dog first, attempting to plant a bullet right between the eyes at point blank, not easy to miss like that. The hook was annoying but looked like the shmuck from the academy was taking care of the goon. At least keeping him busy. Moe frowned at the cigar that had fallen from his mouth, after the impact of the hook.

What’a waste, he’d have to give that lug a sock in the jaw when this was over. Smokes didn’t grow on trees, and that cigar hadn’t been cheap.  He’d have to bill the guy for his dry-cleaning too. The detective would take another couple shots at the thing, aiming for the ribcage/base of the summon before moving to the side, hoping to keep its attention on him, while also hopefully leaving it’s back and flanks exposed to the other fighters. Or give them the opportunity to help their teacher, either way would work assuming the dog=like skeleton creature continued it’s focus on him. Wasn’t like it mattered though, if it didn’t he’d be flanking the thing, which also would probably help.

The main head with the glowing eyes was bugging him. The whole thing was unnatural like, but those eyes were unsettling more than anything, felt like they were lookin’ right through him. So, he decided to take a shot at that one too. The gunshots from the revolver would ring out like thunder, drawing the attention of anyone nearby who may have not been aware of the fight.

HP 160/180 Aura 120/120

Actions: Dodged the bite, got winged by the hook attack. Took one shot at attacking head, two shots at summon’s main body and a fourth at the main head (glowing eyes). Moved to the side where we don’t have people, hoping to either flank or draw its attention away from everyone else.

Attacks are 35 damage each.

possible total is 140.

“Holy….. What in the hell is that thing?” Nyx commented to herself as faced the three headed skeletal dog thing that was charging in towards her. As it did so, it then used it right limb to attempt to punch her from the front. After taking the current situation into account, Nyx suspected that there was more to this than meets the eye. This was assumption was correct as the “forearms” of the creature’s limb switched it target to her left jaw. However, Nyx was not going to allow this skeletal creature to hit her on the jaw like that.

Nyx instinctively crouched downs slightly before using her left leg to launch herself before dodge rolling to the right. This quickly got her out of danger for now. Currently, she was slightly angled to the right of the skeletal creature. Soon after this, Nyx starting hearing multiple gunshots from a pistol or revolver of some sort.

After hearing this, Nyx quickly repositioned herself so that she was completely behind the creature. After doing so, Nyx took aim at the back of the creature’s central head. Currently, the creature’s attention was away from her so Nyx then activated her semblance. Nyx then waited for the creature’s head to stop moving before firing off a shot. After doing this, Nyx then loaded another bullet into the chamber before firing one more into the creature’s central head.

After reloading her rifle once more, Nyx then turned her attention to the tall man. He was currently being engaged by the professor that was part of the patrol. From her angle, Nyx could have taken the shot, but the professor might get in her way. Instead of risking the shot, Nyx quickly moved so the she was positioned on his right flank. After repositioning, Nyx then took aim at the tall man’s head before waiting a couple moments before firing her shot.

Sky heard the sound of Moe's gunshots and turned around as quick as a flash, Wind and Rain seeming to appear in his left and right hands, respectively. He took in the scene as lightning flashed and raindrops patterned in the background. Slynt and Nyx were engaging the summon with gunfire, which he did not want to jump into and have to avoid friendly fire. Ishi was charging the pirate dude, so that's where Sky headed as well. Two apiece, that was about right.

He crunched his legs, his lightning sparking beneath his boots to help him dash across the sand. As he neared Skelly, which he had named the monstrosity, he sank into a crouch and spun, slashing Wind into its ankle, then jumped once, twice across the space between him and the pirate. As he came down he spun, slashing first rain then wind into the mans chest. He landed in a crouch, sliding forward in the sand. He then lunged back, torquing his body around to send Rain biting deep in a thrust to the man's back.

Four on two, or rather one, was going to be difficult but Black-Dog would not waver. He relinquished his summon immediately, allowing the beast to be blasted into bonemeal. As it fell to the ground the light faded from its eyes its body quickly converted from bone to dust to nothingness. It had been ravaged by gunfire and had its leg sliced in two, but this was a necessary sacrifice. His opponents had revealed all their tools and it wasn't as though he'd expected the beast to survive with three opponents in close range. He continued to step back as a disgruntled man attacked him with a knife, keeping an eye not just on him but more notably the two individuals with guns. He could use this to his advantage.

He stepped back from the first two blows but, seeing an opportunity, he actively stepped into the lecturer's final slash; hunching down so that the two were face to face. The sniper was taking aim, there was another boy charging. Now the pirate had cover from their attacks, due to the difference in height from when he had been standing tall the sniper shot raced above his head. The fact that the boy had decided to spin blindly into this engagement suggested he failed to account for their teammate already engaged, with the lecturer to act as a shield he would bare the brunt of that failure rather than Sky's intended target. Remaining in close range with his meat-shield the pirate tugged on the cord at his waist, the head of his hook would fly backward and (should it not catch on anyone else) rush passed the pirate and toward Sky with points primed to pierce. The head would gain on him as he thrust into the pirate's back, piercing clothes but finding aura and armour beneath. The great red jacket had been pierced twice, revealing beneath a black singlet of under-armour.

"Those were poor choices. You should have let me leave."

From ruptured cloth burst forth flames, two great flares violently lashed to and fro as they emerged from the puncture sights. The one from his back surged toward Sky, set to travel across his chest from right to left but the hand wielding the weapon which had pierced Black-Dog was at the most risk. The one on his front was flailing along Ishi's right side. Both were at real risk of being burned by the intense flames. The giant man wasn't done with the doctor yet. With his left he'd grab for the man's weapon arm, with his right he'd attempt to crush his throat and hold him still.

"I'm sorry, but you got in my way first."

Notes:
Summon HP dropped to 0, one more post required before a new summon can be cast. Four attacks made, the hook was sent back toward Sky for 45 Physical damage before defences. Two great solar-flare-esq fires burst forth from his jacket, 40 Dust Damage before res aimed at Sky, Ishi and anyone else who dares advance. Sky and Ishi, if hit, need to roll for burn at affinity one (burning on a 1, 2 or 3). He also attempted to crush Ishi's throat for 25 physical before defences.

Ishi wasn't quite as dumb as he might act. He wasn't a genius in combat by any means, especially not for his age. He also knew, while he wasn't the strongest, that he just happened to be able to do a few things. First things first though, the child who had ran in and jumped in, causing this complication in his plan.

The plan had to make some amendments. First things first, the man was hunched to him, so that he could simply be used as a shield. There was a slight problem with that, in that this shield had life. His plan would have to start shortly after the hunch, where Ishi'd lean forward, into the pirate , making the dodging of Sky easy enough. Ishi would drop his blade, knowing that the chance to do proper damage was over. That would give him proper access to both hands.

Ishi would then launch his right foot towards the tall pirates privates. While doing this, he'd attempt to grab the mans coat with his left hand and bring him even closer. Although this was only to use the mans height against him, and attempt to effectively turn the mans back at least the side. Of course, the dust would still go off and Ishi would take all the damage related, but keep hold. Ishi'd use his free hand to heal the big damage he took from the dust, at least, as much as he could at that moment.

If the man would still attempt to grab him, he'd let him. His throat would hold strong, and if it didn't? It'd regenerate. He'd leave the rest to the rest. If they buggered it, it meant his death. He'd earned it anyway, killed too many.

stuff:
hitting pirate in privates, and then trying to position him more towards the guns.  Ishi took 60 total damage, but is dealing 30 before defenses, and then Ishi healed twice for 40, but took 60 aura to do so. Ishi stands at 80/

Moe let out a breath as the summon crumbled into dust, turning around to get a better look at what was going on with the huntsmen and the apparent pirate.  Wasn’t exactly impressed either, since neither seemed to account for the other’s actions.  Moe’s impression of the two brawling shmucks trying to take the giant man on so far was mostly that they were just a couple of knuckleheads with no clue what they were doing. The sniper he didn’t have much of an impression of, but at least she wasn’t getting in the way.

He’d try to move in from the side, though keeping his distance from the fight to not get in the way, least the academy boys could keep him busy, Moe knew he’d need a clear shot, and with the instructor in the way he’d need to reposition himself, reloading his weapon as he moved to a better position. The cop would have to be careful, rushing to join this fight carelessly wouldn’t be smart, probably end with him shooting one of his own guys that way. Least he could do was make the guy have to turn away from the sniper though, so he’d approach from the sea rather than inland where she had moved. Least then they could shoot him from either side if he tried usin’ a human shield again.  If Ishi’s actions were to succeed in giving him a clear line of sight, Moe would take a couple shots at the guy. Raising his revolver and aiming for the man’s torso, one shot at the chest, and one lower aimed for the gut. Though he wouldn’t fire if anything or anyone were to get in the way. Maybe he’d get lucky and make the guy bleed a little, might make this whole scrap end a lot quicker that way.

Whether he ended up taking the shots, Moe would keep his distance, only staying close enough he’d accurately be able to shoot his opponent. He’d wait for a clear shot, or for his allies to screw up. There was a good chance he’d have to talk his way outta this one, the way these academy boys seemed to fight. The detective could feel the sea water brushing against his boots as a particularly large wave crashed against the beach, and he’d already had to move closer to the water in his approach.

160/180 hp      120/120 aura

Actions:   Two possible attacks at 35 damage each before defenses, gut shot meant to cause bleed. Assuming Moe is given a clear shot.   Moe is now closer to the fight, at around 25 yards or so I imagine.

"Are the other professors of the academy this incompetent?" Nyx thought quietly to herself as she got ready to fire once more at the target she and the rest of the Beach Patrol were currently fighting. At this point in time, the professor had gotten himself caught by the pirate and was currently fighting his way out of it. On the other hand, the other hunter just rushed in and attacked without any regards for the situation. In addition to this, the pirate then released a flare of fire energy which would prevented anyone from coming close. Nyx was a bit relieved to see that the detective had decided to flank the pirate on the other side and attack him from there.

Nyx then took a deep breath before laying prone and taking aim at the pirate once more. The professor was putting up a fight to break free of the pirate's grasp. Due to this, the pirate's body was shifting and moving around. This made it hard for Nyx to get a clear shot. Instead of taking the shot then and there, Nyx aimed slightly behind the pirate in anticipation that he would stop shifting around by the time her bullet reached him. Before firing, Nyx used some aura to maintain her semblance.

Once this this was done, Nyx then turned her attention towards the dinghy that was located on the edge of the beach near the water. She had a hunch that the pirate might create a diversion using his summon before attempting to escape from her and the Beach Patrol via the boat.

Nyx then took aim at the dinghy and took a deep breath before firing. The dinghy was made up of wood which was a hard enough material to punch through in one shot with the ammo Nyx is using now. After determining that the dinghy was made of wood, Nyx quickly took out a couple of .408 Cheytac rounds which were geared towards anti-material work. She then loaded one of these rounds into her rifle before firing it at the weakest point of the boat. After firing once, Nyx then loaded another round into the chamber before firing once more on the boat.

Once this was done, Nyx then took aim at the knees of the pirate. Nyx hoped to disable the pirate instead of killing him outright. After taking a few moments to aim her shot, Nyx then fired before crawling back slightly so that she could have some more distance between herself and the target.

Every so often in life there are those moments where time seems to pause as you wonder: how did I get here? Sky hung in midair for a few moments, it seemed, as he contemplated how his swords were aimed at Ishis back. Really, he should have known better. He cursed his brashness as time resumed and his blades narrowly missed the teachers back, due to no help of his own. A lunge and a stab later, and Sky noticed a hook flying torwards his face.

His recollection complete, Sky rolled left, slashing through the pirate with the sword embedded in him, and slashing at the rope just below the hook, hopefully slashing it to bits. He stayed low, aware of both Moe and nyx behind him. He lunged back in with Wind, crackling with electricity, sweeping both legs of the pirate. Unfortunately this meant that he lunged straight back into the blaze of fire, and took the brunt of it.

This was going to be rough, there was still some time until a new summon would be prepared. As the doctor dropped his knife, baring the brunt of the flames, Black Dog released his arm. It was four on one, he couldn't keep his eyes on all of them and thus felt the need to reposition. This was made most evident when a blade was pulled from his back, the pirate lurched forward thus the man's knee met with his lowers rather than his shoe. The brunt of his blow would shift him enough to reveal his chest for a moment, a shot from the detective's gun crackling as it met with aura and armour, however it would not open up the pirate for the second gut shot.

Black Dog wouldn’t have that; even through his aura he could feel a substantial amount of pain. He charged forward rather than falling backward, meaning Nyx first shot would be misaligned. The pirate was attempting to force ishi backward, in the direction of Moe, to avoid further hits. Hearing the shots ring out however, feeling a blade narrowly miss his shins as he pushed before a jolt of electricity ran up his right leg. He stumbled and with that fell onto Ishi, hand still holding firm upon his throat; unless he had some way out he'd be pinned to the ground with him. He'd look back to his boat just in time for the shots to ring out, the first shot to the hull could be fixed with some patchwork... but the second made the ship unusable. His left hand reached for the rope at his waist... yet as he pulled there was no weight. He would have to retie the head to use his weapon.

The glasses fell from his face, down toward Ishi. He heaved a sigh and closed his eyes; a look crossed his face that only Ishi would be able to see.. Aalook of... calm, a look of relaxation or acceptance. But almost immediately it was corrupted by dread, almost like a flinch crumpling to nothing. He looked up to Moe; "Look, I'd rather none of us die tonight, least of all myself. Tell your friends to drop their weapons; you keep yours trained upon me, and then I let him go. Don't and I'll die or go to custody, if you're so kind, but he won't make it out well."

Notes:
Only one attack made, falling on Ishi with a hand and the large man's weight baring down upon him; 25 Physical damage before defences.

Ishi didn't particularly care if he died. He has had one hell of a run and knew that if they dropped their weaponry, they'd probably get destroyed. Thus, Ishi was fine with dying as long as those who were with him didn't die. After all, letting others die just because he wanted to live, wasn't his style. Totally wasn't because he was afraid of letting those who didn't deserve it die no.

Ishi may have fallen back with the man, mainly on purpose. Ishi made sure to grab the arm on his throat with both hands, attempting to pry it from his throat. Either way, he'd yell out to Moe and co.

"JUST FIRE AWAY!"

Ishi would stop once, or if, those words got out and put his right hand to his body, and go for the man with his left, hoping to grab onto what was left of the coat so he couldn't get away.

stuff:
150/70 Ishi did not heal this turn, just let himself fall so that he can grab the guy and attempt to get his teamates to basically firing squad the pirate.

So, the guy was sticking with the hostage route eh? Moe wasn’t convinced by the whole proposition. Still he couldn’t just shoot the lug with that academy shmuck still in his mitts, so he was a bit stuck buying time himself. He’d run into summoning semblances a few times before, after all when you were one of the few people the department had on hand with unlocked aura, you had to learn so. They had a habit of sending him to arrest cons with aura unlocked after all, since you couldn’t just send any average boy in blue for such a task.

The detective let out a sigh, opening the revolver’s chamber and reloading as he seemed to consider the offer. He needed a drink. The detective clicked the chamber back into place, knowing the guy still had the other two weapons on him prior, though he hadn’t dropped his guard for a moment. Had the guy attacked, he’d have jumped back away from the attack, halting his reloading prematurely. Otherwise the detective would reload without incident and return to aiming his gun at the two. “Doesn’t sound like a bad deal.” The detective said, letting out a breath before continuing. “How about you just give up, just maybe you the chief gets you a deal. Everyone walks away, maybe you get a couple years.” The detective didn’t really know if that was the case, but a deal would probably be appealing to the pirate.

Then the doc went and started struggling, and Moe decided that it might be better to just take the guy here and now, since it was better than letting him continue stalling. If Ishi’s struggle would allow him a clear view, the detective would take the shot, making four shots aimed at the man’s torso. If such an opportunity failed to manifest, the detective would avoid taking the shots, though the pirate might if he were paying attention notice he had tensed as though he might.

Actions: Tried to talk him into surrendering. Four possible attacks doing 35 damage per.

Nyx had been watching the exchange between the Pirate and the detective through her sniper scope. The pirate had demanded that everyone except the detective lower their weapons in exchange for letting the professor go free. This demand instantly caused "red flags" to appear in Nyx's mind. Nyx suspected that this was a ploy to delay the group until the pirate was able to summon whatever monstrosity he had. As the pirate was making his demand, Nyx then quickly opened the bolt-action of her sniper rifle and loaded a Match-Grade round into her sniper rifle before cycling the bolt-action. At this very moment, Nyx heard the professor yell "JUST FIRE AWAY!". This brought a slight smile to Nyx's face. There was no way that she was going to not waste an opportunity to shoot the pirate.

After cycling the bolt-action of her sniper rifle, Nyx then took aim at the pirate through her sniper scope. A few moments later, the crosshair of her sniper scope was positioned over the pirate's head. After doing this, Nyx uses some of her Aura to maintain her semblance before breathing in and out slowly to stabilize her heart rate and breathing. She then slowly pulled on the trigger of her rifle. A few moments later, her sniper rifle went off with a loud "crack". Nyx then reloaded her sniper rifle before aiming once more at the side of the target torso. Soon after, her sniper rifle went off with another loud "crack".

The pirates dust attack had gotten Sky good. Real good. He could feel his skin tightening up and his muscles crying in protest. He could still move just fine, but the sharp, fast movements of an attack would definitely hurt. Sky backed up warily as the Pirate attempted to strike a bargain. His eyes narrowed and his grip on his swords tightened fractionally. Thankfully, none of the others were having it, the teacher even yelling at them to keep attacking. Trench coat was trying to play it cool, while sniper girl just unloaded into the guy.

Storms... Sky had always loved storms. The sound of the wind and rain coaxed his sense while thunder played a percussive symphony. He was wary of making any more mistakes, and also of underestimating their opponent. Sky's first thought was that the plea was a show of weakness, meaning that the pirate was almost dead. But it could just be nothing more than a ploy to stall for his semblance. Sky's eyes flickered up to the sky, and a burst of lightning appeared almost directly overhead.

He raised Wind point first into the sky, calling forth the wild energy from the sky. For anyone else this would be suicide, but sky knew how to handle electricity, his semblance required it. The bolt struck the tip of his sword, raced through the many electrical channels his semblance had Long since carved into him, and leapt from Rain, aimed straight at the pirates back. His aura had taken the natural electricity and made it his own, signature sky blue. He then sheathed his swords, his aura dancing across his body, and leapt in to pummel the pirate with his fists. His first attack would be to clap the pirates ears, which with the metal gloves he wore would hopefully daze him. The second attack would be a punch to the kidney, and his final attack would be a chop for the weak point in the mans neck.

4 attacks, 20 ap semblance and 3 unarmed strikes at 25 each, total of 95 before defense

The doctor struggling beneath was making this plea quite difficult to construct. Rather than fight his grapple the pirate would drop from having his arms straight to elbows bent; putting himself even closer to Ishi than he had been and applying much more weight. He had been prepared to make a deal with the man just as lightning sounded overhead. He'd just had his ankle singed by lightning so currently he wasn't exactly trusting of the sound and light. A bullet flew overhead, a second caught his torso and tore his jacket. A great fire began to rage on his left side with Ishi most likely being singed.

"I'd have said yes but now..."

For a blink sand seemed to shift around the lying pair and then a great maw closed in around them. A broad, skeletal, hound head with a pair of glowing eyes had closed around the pair lengthways (from Ishi's feet to head) and sunk beneath the sands; out of view. As the storm grew stronger on the surface, lashing rain impairing vision more by the second. Nyx in particular, relying on range, would soon have issues. Winds were howling, the sand turning from loose yellow grains to mustard sludge.

Meanwhile, beneath the surface, the man stilll held his grasp around Ishi's throat... however the look of calm returned oncemore to the pirate's face. It first sand trickled into the skull cave before ceasing entirely. "Look, try to kill me down here and you're stuck, probably wouldn't die for a while but it'd be a real bad time." His grasp loosened around Ishi's throat. He sighed deeply, a tired look in his eyes; "I'm not here by my own volition. I'm a cabin boy. This is a precarious situation for both of us. I'm the bottom rung, folks at the top can flatten me. If I survive here I'm marked as I marked Billy Bones, the vultures will circle me within the week, but if I keep fighting I'm pretty sure I'm dead. Even me trying to surrender back there got me shot."

Should Ishi remain calm he'd tear away the remainder of his dust-jacket as a sign of good faith, releasing the grasp from Ishi's neck. black (tank-top) and trousers which looked to be made of reenforced black-brown leather were being worn beneath the coat. Reaching into his left pocket he drew what looked to be a vial of pink dust, ground down to be like sand. "I don't want to go back there, but I don't want to die; be it up there or later. You can see why this is a real conundrum for me can't you? You shouting really didn't help, but now you can make that up to me. If you act more cooperatively then hopefully I get to live...? At least for a while."

On the surface less than a minute had passed. The storm was wild, the starlight and the moonlight was now cut off yet there wasn't a single faunus among the group. They could not see to the raging tides, even a faunus would struggle in the storm, but something floated near bellmuse; just three hundred metres from the coast. There was a glint of orange light on the horizon, at first likely unnoticeable, but as it drew closer it became impossible to ignore. It was a convulsing orb, crackling and growing and shrinking as it raced toward the beach. It would meet with the beach between where Sky and Moe stood, right above the skull that housed Ishi and Black Dog. A spherical explosion, a five meter radius of twisting orange light that sent sand in all directions and briefly stoped all wind in the area.

Beneath the ground, within the skull, they'd feel a rather sudden heat; above them the jaws would crack under force and flame before completely shattering. Black-Dog braced, it was fortunate that he had been within the jaws otherwise he might have been ravaged. As the force hit he went limp, thrown from atop Ishi he would land near the edge of a newly formed crater. On the ground, heaving for breath as though he had been winded and most of his hair singed. The man appeared conscious but basically catatonic, his ears were ringing and he couldn't stop blinking. None could sight the source of the blast, but it was incredibly familiar to Gwyn Ryu's report of how the last man to Captain Arrow's Death; the very reason they were patrolling this zone.

Notes:
Ishi taking damage from the coat is 40 dust damage before defences.

Explosion from the Sea; 65 Dust based damage attack aimed toward Sky and Moe, for Ishi due to the shielding granted by the summon the damage is reduced to 15 before dust resistance.

“Son of a- “The detective began to curse as the two academy students decided to attack the guy just as he seemed to be surrendering. The detective sent a withering look at the boy, the storm being too intense for him to really be able to pick out where precisely the other one was, and while he could guess based on the bullet’s trajectory, it likely wouldn’t be as effective. The guy said as much himself. Damn hotheaded huntsmen, he should have figured they’d be less than useful. Shmucks like these guys got built too much up by their titles, plenty’a detectives were the same way really.

When the doc was pulled down into the sands with the lecturer that only made things more complicated. The academy shmucks had really screwed the pooch here, and Moe knew he would be stuck dealing with it now. Them being underground caused more issues, as now Moe was stuck trying to figure out how to deal with it. The storm had only become fiercer too, it’d take forever to get an ambulance out here, let alone a cruiser to take the lug in.

Getting someone to actually help dig the guy out was another issue too, he didn’t normally put much stock in dust, but at this moment the stuff would probably be helpful. He’d been about to start looking for a way of getting the doc out of there-along with their perp, when he spotted the orange glow approaching. “Get Down!” The detective shouted, realizing it to be some type of attack. He made an attempt to dodge, jumping to the side and hitting the sand, only it was too little, too late.

The explosion caught him in the side, and while his aura held, it certainly hurt like hell.
