The fighting system works mainly through your strength stat and the level of your weapon. First you multiply your strength by five, so a 1 = 5, 2 =10 3=15 etc. then you add the level of your weapon X10 (if you are using a weapon that is) All weapons start at level one. So a character with a strength of 4 and a level one weapon would deal 30 damage on hit. The strength aura adds 10 to attack power and the spirit aura adds 10 to dust attacks. Dust attacks are calculated the same way as physical attacks except with the spirit stat instead of strength

Then if the attack connects, the defending player negates five damage for each one point in strength and the level of their armor times ten if any armor applies. (The defense aura adds an extra 10 to defense) if you have an attack semblance and that attack connects it will always do 20 damage.

P.S. Sorry if this needs some clarifications I am really tired right now

Is speed Factor'd into the Attacks? Like going fast and having it connect should also have some type of Multiplier Effect in Attacks when connecting.

As far as I know speed is used as more of a reference point for how fast your character can actually run, in or out of combat. So to answer, no speed does not directly affect attacks.

This needs to be made a thing.

Make SPD apply a bonus to damage, just make it smaller than STR's bonus.

Here's the issue with that: the bonus to attack is already pretty significant, to add speed to that would be over kill. You have the Bonus to your attacks with the STR stat, +10x Your weapon level. Adding speed to that would be too much, with nothing in the defense area to balance it out.

Well, how about a flat amount if your speed is high enough?

Like, if you have 5 or higher in your speed, you get a flat 10 added to your damage?

I'm just requesting this because 1. It makes sense since SPD seems to be an aggressive stat vs just utility and 2. SPD and AGL have no numbers attached to them. High STR and SPT means something and have number, but SPD and AGL are rather arbitrary.

Speed and agility are meant for reference numbers, so two people with the same speed and agility would be relatively at the same speed, and someone with a higher number in speed or agility would be faster respectively. So if you had a player with 5 strength and 5 spirit they might have far stronger attacks than someone with 5 speed and 5 agility, but the character with the speed stats would almost never if at all get hit by the strength build character, and the speed build would hit nearly every attack even if it does far less.

Also the fact remains that there is nothing to balance an extra strength boost Defense wise. As is currently stands, any type of boosting done with Attack damage can be counteracted exactly by the same about of boosting to defense (but not on the same chara, ofc. That would be OP). This is the reason we recently added a magical (for lack of a better term) armor/shield, because the magical attack damage boost that Dust has had nothing on the opposite spectrum for defense. STR counts for both attack and defense, and any boosts given by dust or weapons are counteracted by their respective armors. Hopefully that made sense, haha.

I understand fine, but comparing SPD/AGL between players doesn't eliminate my problem with the stat system.

STR has a number in the damage dealt/resisted. SPT Has a number for both those as well, just in magical form rather than physical. You can get an idea of how strong or how skilled Dust someone is via the number in their stat AND by how much damage/resistance that adds up to.

SPD and AGL only have numbers in their stats, but nothing to actually gauge what those numbers mean in combat. If I have a 5 in SPD, and my opponent has a 1, of course I'm faster than him...but two questions remain.

1. How much faster am I than him, and
2. How does that affect actual combat?

It's the same for AGL, no idea how much more AGL I am than my opponent or how that effects battle, only that I am technically faster.

This is the only problem with having a Combat-related number system: once you take away the the ability for the creator to determine their stats via text, the entire system needs numbers for something.

So what if 1 is low, 3 is average, and 5 is high? What does low, average, and high mean when I'm duking it out?

Speed-Attacking Speed. (how difficult it is for your enemy to dodge your attack)
AGL-Reflexes. (How easily I can dodge someone else's attack.)

I see two sets of scenarios here: one, If I am attacking, or two, if I am being attacked. I will address being the attacker first.

If my speed is 5 and their AGL is 4 or lower, it is very likely that I will hit them.

If my speed is 3 and their AGL is 4 or greater, I will probably miss on my first attack.

If my speed and their AGL are equal, (i.e. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, et cetera;) either one of two evens could occur: I hit, or I miss. This situation may be part of the problem, and could use defining.

You want your stat to be higher (AGL or Speed respectively), but for different reasons. The goal with speed is to increase the likelihood of your attack landing, while AGL is to avoid attacks.

Now, the options I see here are making these stats hard numbers instead of comparison points, or to find some method I do not know of yet...either way, I wish them the best at this issue, for I do not have a relative speed scale.

We are already currently working on fixing the stat system. Please be patient and bear with us. ^-^
